Crowned number one

The city of Bath has been named top-ranked medium-sized city, with an overall rating of 82%, following a survey of nearly 4,000 Which? members. One survey respondent described it as ‘one of the top sites in the UK, indeed Europe,’ for its architecture and historical sites. The city itself is a Unesco World Heritage Centre.

It’s best known for its beautifully preserved Roman baths, the Georgian houses of the Royal Crescent and its literary connections, celebrated at the Jane Austen centre. The National Trust property Prior Park Landscape Garden - located close to The Apartment - received a mention for its 18th-century grounds designed by Alexander Pope and Capability Brown.

In its report, published on 23 May 2024, consumer champion Which? ranked Bath five stars for cultural sights and tourist attractions; and four stars for food and drink and accommodation.

Travel and parking a breeze

The survey also suggest you "Leave the car at home, or use the park and ride, as Bath gets just one star for parking." With The Apartment, Bath located a 3-4 minute walk from both railway and bus stations, we're the premier choice for the growing proportion of guests using sustainable public transport. However, if you DO wish to drive, our digital parking permit provides on-street parking within moments of our front door - we've the best of both worlds!

Don't delay and book your stay!

With the arrival of June, we've only five nights still available between 1 June and 16 August 2024, with better availability from mid-August onwards, particularly mid-September and mid-October. And whilst it may be too early to think about Christmas, it's not too early to plan ahead and secure one of the remaining nights for Bath Christmas Market 2024, which runs this year from 28 November to 15 December 2024. Fancy visiting the UK's best medium-sized city? Don't delay and book your stay!

In April 2024, Which? asked 3,967 members to rate UK cities and towns they’d visited for leisure purposes and stayed in for at least one night in the past two years (since April 2022), receiving reports of 7,187 experiences.
